Winter Camper Van Capers
OK, so the snow finally came, a week and a half late. Yesterday was rather wintry here in Scotland. Cars off the road here and there, gritters out on double time, and everybody with big smiles on their faces. Well, me anyway.
So we were off for a sunday drive. Thought we'd try and get up to the Ben Lawers visitor centre car park and get some good snow photos.
Unfortunately the single track road up the hill was pure ice and we never got further than the top of the forest. In fact it took a shovel and lots of wheel spinning to get the car turned around. It was completely treacherous and we were expecting it. No harm done.
Imagine our surprise when on our way down, in first gear, we encountered a rather large camper van crawling up the hill. I'm no expert, but i doubt these things handle too well on ice. There was no room up there for them to get turned around, and I guess they were just hoping they'd be able to get to the big car park at the top.
I don't know what happened to them, maybe they made it and have no problems driving on ice. In that case, respect to them.
Maybe they didn't make it. oops.
